SAC: federal grand jury indicts hedge fund for insider trading

Federal grand jury indictment alleges that SAC maintained elite group that has traded on insider information since 1999

A federal grand jury has indicted SAC Capital, the embattled hedge fund that has been pursued by financial authorities for years, for insider trading after regulators failed to charge its powerful founder, Steven A Cohen.

The US attorney who brought the charges, Preet Bharara, also hit the firm with civil money-laundering charges that would require the firm to forfeit potentially billions of dollars in assets.

A 41-page indictment alleges that SAC, founded in 1992, maintained an elite group that has traded on insider information since 1999.

SAC is also alleged to have hired portfolio managers specifically for their insider contact in the industries in which they traded, and failed to raise red flags when insider information was suggested as the basis for a trade.

The indictment marks the culmination of a six-year investigation by Bharara. The government pursued an investigation against Cohen but apparently dropped its attempt to bring charges last month.

"SAC became, over time, a veritable magnet for market cheaters," Bharara said at a news conference in Manhattan. "That's why the institution, and not individuals, stand accused of insider trading." He said that the charges were "a predictable product of pervasive institutional failure", and added: "A company reaps what it sows. SAC seeded itself with corrupt traders."

Cohen was not mentioned by name in the indictment but referred to obliquely as "the SAC owner" and an "individual residing in Greenwich, Connecticut."

"The SAC owner failed to question candidates who implied that their 'edge' was based on sources of inside information," the indictment says. Later, it notes: "The SAC owner fostered a culture that focused on not discussing inside information too openly, rather than not seeking or trading on such information in the first place."

The government's case centers on SAC's culture. It alleges that employees at SAC "engaged in a pattern of obtaining inside information from dozens of publicly-traded companies across multiple industry sectors. Employees ...traded on inside information themselves and, at times, recommended trades to the SAC owner based on inside information."

Under US securities laws, fund managers may only trade on company information that has been publicly disclosed.

The indictment mentions several other SAC employees as well as employees of affiliate investment firms. One portfolio manager for Cohen-controlled Sigma Capital, Wes Wang, is cited in connection with insider trading in eight technology stocks including Taiwan Semiconductor, Cisco, and eBay. In 2012, Wang pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit securities fraud.

Other alleged insider trading by SAC Capital mentioned in the indictment includes some of the biggest North American companies, such as Intel, Advanced Micro Devices, BlackBerry maker RIM, and Yahoo.

SAC denied the allegations. It said in a statement: "SAC has never encouraged, promoted or tolerated insider trading and takes its compliance and management obligations seriously. The handful of men who admit they broke the law does not reflect the honesty, integrity and character of the thousands of men and women who have worked at SAC over the past 21 years. SAC will continue to operate as we work through these matters."

The chief target of the US attorney's legal strategy, according to experts, is to foil Cohen himself by attacking his deputies and the trading culture of the firm he created. Cohen controls 60% of the money in SAC Capital and has a net worth of roughly $9bn, according to Bloomberg.

The indictment holds that SAC's trading culture was heavily centralized, with dozens of portfolio managers answering directly to Cohen without knowledge of what their peers in the firm were doing.

Cohen, until his legal troubles, was a towering figure on Wall Street, a billionaire unknown to much of the public but famous in the finance community for his enviable investment profits and casual style. While maintaining an intense work regimen - working at over seven computer screens in his office - he was habitually seen around the firm's Connecticut trading floor in a blue fleece vest that became almost iconic.

He was known for quirks such as his disdain of ringing phones, which created a silent trading floor, and maintaining the firm's temperature at a breezy 69F so traders would not be too comfortable.

For investors, he held a notable mystique: SAC was so sought-after by clients that they paid the firm a fee of 3% of the money under management and allowed the firm to take up to 50% of their investment profits, according to the indictment.

SAC seemed to have a green thumb for stocks, watching them gain up to 10% in value in a single day after buying shares, and up to 15% in a month, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis in March.

The swirl of legal issues around insider trading have already temporarily claimed the careers of two of Cohen's top lieutenants, Michael Steinberg and Mathew Martoma, both of whom were arrested at their homes and subsequently indicted. The government's case against Martoma accuses him of making a profit of $276m by trading on nonpublic information related to healthcare companies Wyeth and Elan.

Martoma has maintained his innocence. His trial is set for November.

The indictment is the latest in a series of investigations of SAC by regulators such as the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as federal prosecutors.

Most recently, last week the SEC filed civil administrative charges against Cohen, arguing that he "failed reasonably to supervise" Steinberg and Martoma.

In response to the SEC's charges, Cohen's lawyers argued, in 46-page white paper to staff, that he was too busy to read his email, and estimated he opened only 11% of his messages. As a result, they held, he could not have acted on insider tips contained in those emails.

Previously, SAC and its affiliates paid a $617.5m fine to settle SEC charges on insider trading, even though a judge grew irritated that the firm would be able to pay money to absolve itself of charges without admitting or denying wrongdoing.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn to stand trial for pimping, French prosecutors say

Former IMF chief charged with aggravated pimping in connection with alleged prostitution ring at Carlton hotel in Lille

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund, is to go on trial on charges of pimping in connection with an alleged prostitution ring at a luxury hotel in the northern French city of Lille

Magistrates in France decided on Fridayto press ahead with charging the former Socialist minister in spite of calls by the state prosecutor for the case to be dropped.

Strauss-Kahn, 64, a former French presidential candidate, has admitted attending the "libertine" parties and having sex with a number of women. However, he has always insisted he did not know that some of them were prostitutes.

The case, known as the Carlton affair after the luxury hotel where the orgies were said to have taken place, centres around allegations that businessmen and police officials in Lille operated a vice ring supplying women for sex parties.

This affair, which came to light in late 2011, is the last of a series of inquiries into Strauss-Kahn since his arrest in New York in May 2011 where he was accused of trying to rape a hotel maid.

The charges in the US were eventually dropped because of doubts over maid Nafissatou Diallo's credibility after she was found to have lied on her immigration claim, but Strauss-Kahn was later forced to pay her substantial damages reported to be in the region of $6m( 3.9m).

Two subsequent cases against the former French finance minister have also been dropped. An allegation of sexual assault against writer Tristane Banon in Paris in 2003 did not result in criminal charges because it had passed the legal time limit. In October last year, French prosecutors decided to drop an inquiry into allegations of gang rape at a hotel in Washington after one of the women involved who had made the claim retracted her evidence.

The state prosecutor had recommended that the Carlton affair charges against Strauss-Kahn be dropped on the grounds of a lack of evidence.

Magistrates decided otherwise; they put aside a charge of "aggravated pimping as part of an organised gang", but maintained the lesser charge of "aggravated pimping as part of a group". He is facing trial along with 12 other defendants.

In France pimping can cover a wide range of crimes including aiding or encouraging prostitution. A trial is expected to take place next year. If convicted, Strauss-Kahn could face up to 10 years in prison and a 1.5m ( 860,000) fine.

The former IMF chief has vehemently denied all allegations against him and described them as "dangerous and malicious insinuations and extrapolations".

"It will all come out publicly before the tribunal and everyone will realise that there is nothing in this case," Henri Leclerc, one of Strauss Kahn's lawyers said on Friday.

Leclerc said the legal team was "under no illusions" about the "relentlessness shown by the investigating magistrates" and claimed Strauss-Kahn was being targeted because of his high profile.

"This decision is based on an ideological and moral analysis, but certainly not on any legal grounds. We're sending someone to court for nothing," said the lawyer.

After an earlier hearing into the Carlton affair, Leclerc told the French radio station Europe 1 that Strauss-Kahn could not have known whether the women at the parties were prostitutes.

"As you can imagine, at these kinds of parties you're not always dressed, and I challenge you to distinguish a naked prostitute from any other naked woman," Leclerc said.

Strauss-Kahn had been a frontrunner as the Socialist party's candidate to become French president in last year's election before his arrest in New York. He was forced to resign from his job as IMF chief and his third wife Anne Sinclair, a wealthy heiress and former television presenter, divorced him.

At the Cannes film festival in May, Strauss-Kahn was pictured with a new girlfriend, Moroccan-born Myriam L'Aouffir, 45, who works in the internet and social media department at France Television.

Restaurateurs, Resolve to Be More Efficient This Year with SteadyServ

If any industry needs to be more efficient, it's the restaurant and bar business. Profit margins are tight, employee turnover is a problem, and customers can be fickle. That's why I love shows like Bar Rescue which feature new technological solutions for one of the oldest industries.

Case in point, managing beer keg inventory. Traditionally, bars are caught off guard when a key runs dry, but SteadyServ aims to bring some predictability to the market. The company says their SteadyServ keg sensor collects and sends information such as how much beer remains, the type and style of the beer in the keg, when it was delivered, when it was tapped, its age, and when the keg may run out. It sends this information to SteadyServ's cloud-based software, where it is paired with other information, such as how much safety stock remains, the next delivery date, previous order information, past consumption trends, event information, beer consumption trends nearby, and even local weather forecasts which may impact patronage trends.

And what high tech solution would be complete without an app? The SteadyServ service comes with a free companion app, called iKeg, naturally! The app is free, but without a login, you can't really use it; However there are videos on their site that show it in action. There are also interfaces for retailers and for distributors.

The SteadyServ sensor, their intelligent cloud, and the iKeg app are a practical application of artificial intelligence that could make the difference between a profitable bar and a losing proposition!

Dow pushed to record high as markets shrug off slow US growth figures

Dow breaks previous record set in October 2007 as investors absorb signs of recovery in US and better figures in Europe

The Dow Jones Industrial Average on Tuesday surged to its highest closing level ever, erasing the index's loses during the financial crisis even as Washington's fights over its debts and Main Street seem far from mended.

The Dow closed at 14,254, passing its previous high of 14,164.52 in
October 2007.

Better-than-expected news from the service sector bolstered the rally that had begun even before the market opened. Dow futures, a somewhat unreliable indication of the direction the market is likely to take, pushed the index higher before the opening bell as investors absorbed better-than-expected retail figures from Europe.

On Monday, the Dow closed at 14,127.82, up 38.16 points, or 0.27%, a 52-week high. The index has risen for four of the past five trading days.

The Dow has not touched these levels since before Barack Obama's first election victory. Global stock markets went into freefall shortly after, as the implosion of housing market and Europe's woes dragged the world into the worst financial crisis in living memory.

Massive issues remain, however. Unemployment, especially among the young, remains high, and in Washington politicians are still at loggerhead over America's $16tn debt. Last Friday the government started making $85bn of cuts - known as the sequester - in a move Obama and others predicted would cause widespread chaos and financial hardship. In Europe, major US companies including GM and Ford are being hit by the region's continuing economic crisis.

But these are old debates now - and Wall Street doesn't seem to be worried.

The latest figures from the Institute of Supply Management (ISM), released Tuesday morning, showed positive growth in the service sector. The ISM index stood at 56 in February. Anything above 50 indicates growth, and the number was ahead of analysts' forecasts. US markets were also buoyed by rallies in Europe and Asia. In London the FTSE closed up 86.32 points.

The Dow Jones index has now more than doubled since a low point in March 2009, stunning many market watchers and coming against a still lacklustre economic recovery. Corporate profits hit record highs last year, fuelled largely by cost cuts. Economists and market watchers said the Federal Reserve's massive bond-buying programme has fueled the market but that beneath that there were concrete signs of improvement.

Gus Faucher, a senior economist for PNC Financial Services Group, said Washington still mattered and warned that if the sequester drags on, the Dow's gains could be at risk. "That said, the fundamentals are better. Profits are at an all-time high, business balance sheets have improved, interest rates are low. The markets are expecting more growth through 2013."

Jack Ablin, chief investment officer at BMO Bank, said investors fed up with low yields from the bond markets were looking for better returns in equities. Bonds were also being issued in order to buy shares, he said. He said the wider economy looked like it was steadily improving, but warned there could be problems ahead.

"Investors are embracing progress. They weren't shaken by the tax hikes at the end of the year and not by the sequester either," he said. "The Dow looks fairly priced now."

But he warned that the Federal Reserve's massive bond-buying policy could drive more people into equities. "If you want to see a swift end to monetary easing, another 10-20% hike in the Dow will probably do that," he said.

Minutes of the Fed's last meeting revealed a split in the central bank's rate setting committee. While the Federal Open Markets Committee's members were still worried about unemployment, "many participants also expressed some concerns about potential costs and risks arising from further asset purchases", according to the minutes.

Friday may prove the next test for the markets, and the Fed, when the latest nonfarm payroll figures are released. The US added 157,000 new jobs in January. Average job creation for 2012 was around 181,000, a number just above the benchmark economists calculate is enough for the unemployment rate to stabilise, but not fall.

Eurozone recession set to continue

European commission backtracks on previous forecasts, blaming a lack of bank lending and record unemployment for the delayed economic recovery

The eurozone will remain mired in recession in 2013 and leading nations such as France and Spain will miss debt-cutting targets, the European commission has admitted, backtracking on forecasts that the 17- country bloc will grow this year.

The European Union's executive body blamed a lack of bank lending to households and businesses, and record joblessness, for delaying the recovery. Unemployment in the eurozone is set to peak at 12% in 2013, or more than 19 million people, it said. Greece and Spain will be the worst-hit countries, with jobless rates of 27% this year.

The estimate highlights the widening chasm between Germany and France, the two largest eurozone economies, amid warnings this week that France is drifting closer to the bloc's periphery than its main economic rival. The commission predicts that Germany will grow by 0.5% this year, while France is expected to eke out just 0.1% growth. Joblessness among the French is expected to hit 10.7%, compared with 5.7% in Germany.

A senior ally of German chancellor Angela Merkel accused France of being a "problem child" in the eurozone. Michael Fuchs told German radio the French needed to save, implement economic reforms and work longer hours. "Other countries have done their homework a lot more intensively, for example Spain and Italy ... but the French believed they could escape this," he said.

Marco Buti, the commission's director general for economic and financial affairs, said unemployment remained unacceptably high. This had grave social consequences, he said, and could weigh on growth in the future if it becomes entrenched. The figures also have consequences for the UK because the eurozone is the economy's largest trading partner and is the fulcrum of hopes for an export-led recovery in Britain's finances.

The commission said the threat of a breakup of the eurozone had receded and financial market conditions had improved substantially, but the impact had not yet fed through into the real economy. As a result, it said the 17 eurozone economies would contract by 0.3% in 2013 rather than grow by 0.1%, as previously predicted.

The figures harboured bad news for Spain and France's debt-cutting targets. Under EU budget rules, eurozone states can face fines if they fail to take action to meet deficit targets - the difference between income and spending - set by EU finance ministers. The main strggler is Spain, which badly missed the deficit target of 6.3% of GDP for 2012 with a result of 10.2%. This year, Madrid will have a deficit of 6.7% rather than the 4.5% it has been set. And unless government policies change, Spain will have a gap of 7.2% in 2014 against the target of 2.8%, the commission said.

France will also miss its targets. This year's shortfall will be 3.7% rather than the 3% agreed with the EU, because of weaker-than-expected growth.

There was a silver lining in the figures for the wider zone, however. The commission said the region has bottomed out and it expects economic activity to gradually accelerate, with GDP 0.7% higher in the last quarter of 2013 than in the same period last year. The commission expects domestic demand to rebound in 2014 and take over from exports as the main driver of strengthening GDP growth.

Economists said the grim forecasts could prompt the commission - which is part of the troika of lenders to crisis-hit countries - to ease its demands of austerity from eurozone governments, while the European Central Bank may be moved to adopt measures to boost the economy.

Chris Williamson, chief economist at Markit, said: "A downward revision to the EC's economic growth forecasts for the eurozone suggest that governments will be given more time to reduce budget deficits without implementing harsher austerity measures, while at the same time putting more pressure on the European Central Bank to provide a further boost of stimulus, perhaps via a cut in its main policy rate."

Williamson said the weaker forecasts were a blow for the UK, which depends on the eurozone for export growth. "Given the outlook of persistent weak demand at home and a further year of contraction in the eurozone, there appear to be few drivers of UK economic recovery in 2013," he said.

The commission predicts that the UK economy will grow by 0.9% this year, although joblessness will rise to 8%. The wider European Union of 27 member states is expected to grow by 0.1% this year, with a jobless rate of 11%.

Boeing 787: regulators admit bafflement over source of aircraft's fault

Regulators say they still have no clear idea of what went wrong but Japanese officials rule out fault with battery manufacturer

Boeing's hopes of a quick solution to its problems with the grounded 787 Dreamliner jet have been dashed by regulators in the US and Japan who have conceded that they still have no clear idea what went wrong with the world's most technologically advanced passenger plane.

Regulators have been examining two incidents involving 787s earlier this month that led to a worldwide grounding of the new airliner. So far, investigators have concentrated on the plane's controversial use of lithium ion batteries, one of which burst into flames, triggering a smoke alarm.

On Monday, Japan's transport ministry official Shigeru Takano said his investigations had found no evidence that battery maker GS Yuasa was the source of the problems. His statement came after US regulators said on Sunday that they had made "no significant discoveries" three weeks into their investigation into the source of a fire that broke out early this month on a Japan Airlines 787 parked at Boston's Logan airport.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) had been looking at the batteries' charger, made by Securaplane Technologies, a unit of Britain's Meggitt engineering firm. NTSB said they had found no evidence of flaws that could have caused the incident. NTSB also said parts of the charred battery were too damaged to yield useful information.

The latest updates appear to further rule out a speedy resolution to Boeing's woes. Company executives had told airline customers that they hoped to get the 787 up in the air soon. There had been speculation that a batch of faulty batteries may have led to the two incidents, but this now looks less likely. On Wednesday, Boeing chief Jim McNerney will speak for the first time about the aircraft's woes when he unveils the company's latest results.

Robert Mann, founder of consultant RW Mann, said: "If you rule out battery failure due to manufacturer and you rule out charging, you are left with intermittent faults, which are very difficult to track down, or some unintended consequence from a usage problem."

Both faults were found on Japanese airliners, and Mann speculated that their use for shorter flights, as opposed to other airlines which have used the 787s for longer haul, may have a bearing on the issue. Such flights would lead to more frequent charging of the lithium-ion batteries, which have proven volatile in many other situations and have never before been used so extensively in such a large passenger plane.

"But I am grasping at straws," Mann said. "As is everyone. A lot smarter people than me are looking at this."

Mann said Boeing was now in for a period of "intense brow-furrowing", and a short-term fix looked very unlikely.

Boeing's hi-tech Dreamliner was dogged by delays even before the grounding. The company has invested $20bn developing the plane, which makes use of electric rather than hydraulic systems, and carbon fiber panels to save weight and fuel.

Dreamliner's issues have cast a harsh light on regulators' approval of the aircraft. Japan's regulators eased safety restrictions ahead of the plane's certification, according to Reuters. Boeing spokeswoman Lori Gunter on Sunday said the 787 had "the most rigorous test program in Boeing's history and the most robust certification program ever conducted."

U.K government has decided to board P2P lending train, it will lend £30 million through lending sites Zopa and Funding Circle

Despite the efforts of U.K government, they are unable to compel the high street banks to start lending money to small businesses. This can become a big problem for economy of U.K. To solve this problem a latest solution given by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills is boarding the P2P lending train.
The government of U.K has promised to lend tax payer's money to SME's. This will be done with the help of alternative finance scheme. The 'Zopa' and 'Funding Circle' are the two sites for P2P lending and they will benefit from this. Zopa will receive 10m whereas Funding Circle will receive 20m.If the British government gets approval from parliament, then they will be using both the sites and will lend money to businesses that are in connection with P2P lending platform.

According to Vince Cable the business secretary, a wide range of financial options should be given to the medium and small size businesses and it should also include non-bank lending options. He further said that at present the new versions of finance are present in small scale. They should try to give more competition to lending market.

The word small scale used by Vince Cable is appropriate because 30 million is not a great amount and it will not have much effect on boosting the economy of U.K. But according to one of the Britain's supermarket, even the little measures can help to boost the economy. The Union Square Ventures and Index are backing up Funding Circle. The target of Funding Circle is SMEs and since two years (from the day of launch to the present day) they have managed to lend 65 million to over 1,300 UK businesses through their platform. In the previous month they lent 7 million alone.

Few days ago Zopa announced that they are starting the latest round of funding. Previously they have raised $40 million. The P2P lending sector is being appreciated by major players in the businesses

New Year's Resolution 1: Keeping Focused with OmniFocus

As I reached for my keyboard to write this post, my iPad chimed. This article on OmniFocus was due, at least to me, again, for the third day in a row. Rather than just postpone it again, I decided to write it.

Keeping track of the myriad activities of my life sometimes seems to take more time than doing the things I want to do. If I take the time to write them down, I fear, I will waste time better spent doing something real.

We live in an era of time starvation, and the argument that managing time takes too much time is about as rational as the world ending today (this is being published on 12/21/2012).

I

've tried mind maps and to-do lists, striking up an affair with Siri and writing myself notes on the palm of my hand with indelible ink. Now I'm trying OmniFocus and it seems to be working. This post is due, and after a few reschedules, here it is.

OmniFocus is different than other approaches because it is designed for managing the entirety of a task, not just a lists of things to do. OmniFocus organizes tasks into projects and context. But you have to be willing to spend the time to create the items and manage them. It is also different because it has grown from its Macintosh roots into a Post-PC tool. I know longer have to think of something, jot it down and then input it next time I'm at the computer. Now I enter the item on my iPad and Synchronize to Omni Group's WebDav servers and that new item is everywhere I have that account linked. In my case, my Mac and my iPad (you can also sync an iPhone or iPod.

Now, this is by far the most expensive software you may own on an iPad, outside of a game. $80 for the Mac, which is middle-of-the-road, but at $40 for the iPad it is even more expensive than Paper with all the in-app purchases applied. But at $40 there are no hidden purchases. The WebDav synchronization service is included. What the $40 really means is serious. If you are serious, the OmniGroup has written some serious software for you to use.

The OmniFocus iPad interface offers a more elegant and refined view of tasks and projects than the Mac client, and it includes a slightly revised taxonomy.  Hopefully OmniGroup will update the Mac client to be more consistent with the iPad soon. Some items, like publishing tasks to iCal, have been updated for Mountain Lion. OmniFocus works on the Mac, it just needs a facelift.

Using OmniFocus is easy. Put your stuff into the inbox. Assign it a context, a due date and a project, or any or none of those. I personally suggest you get as granular as possible and attempt due dates. Time management gurus have all kinds of classifications for stuff you'll get to later. Even after it's captured in OmniFocus, if you don't assign it a due date, you may forget it's there, so try to temporally contextualize your work as much as possible.

I like the simple capture of information along with the ability to see it from different perspectives. Rather than just looking at dates, you can look at it from the perspective of where you are or what you are doing (what things can I do from a computer, while I'm out in the car?). For best results, you have to put everything in. Don't separate work and life. If you are going to manage your time, you need to manage all of it. OmniFocus is time management focused, not work focused, so don't be afraid to put in a volleyball game or date night.

I have integrated OmniFocus with my browser, so if I read something I want to take action on, all I have to do is highlight it and invoke the OmniFocus service. Next time I'm in the inbox, the new items are waiting for me to take action. Setting up e-mail is a breeze too. I used the option to put in a rule that looks for subject lines starting with "omni." Send an e-mail to myself, from any source, and when it's processed by mail on the Mac, it ends up in the OmniFocus inbox, ready for processing. I've also published my calendar via the WebDav server so I can subscribe to it with iCal.

I'm going to be testing OmniFocus during the course of 2013. I find myself already flipping between Twitter, GetGlue and other apps even while watching TV. If something I need to do pops to mind, I jot it down - not on  a note pad, but in OmniFocus.

Now let me put in a few tasks to make sure I write a monthly update on how well OmniFocus and I are getting along.

Enterprises buying iPhones ‘in droves’: Here’s the tipping point

“BlackBerrys are on their way out, and iPhones are ready to take their place in the enterprise space, according to the latest forecast report from research firm IDC,” Zack Whittaker reports for ZDNet.

“Enterprises and large businesses are buying the petite Apple-branded shiny rectangles ‘in droves,’ the report said, and in the coming years will likely outshine its more popular rivals in the business smartphone space,” Whittaker reports. “Looking ahead to 2016, the iPhone will reign over the business space with around 68.9 million shipments, while Android will dwindle due to its fragmented ecosystem, leaving ‘more gaps in security than many organizations are comfortable with,’ the report notes. By contrast, Apple is forecast to ship 78.6 million iPhones to end consumers, with 37.1 million shipping to business workers and 31.1 million directly to companies.”

Whittaker reports, “This is the tipping point. BlackBerry is on its way out as the business and enterprise gold standard in security and functionality, and the iPhone is heading in. “

Can We Ever Expect Batteries To Last For Seven Days

The working week is, to many of us, a cornerstone of time, as we tend to work our life around the working week with some exceptions such as battery charging! This is one chore that has to be done on a daily basis, in some cases twice daily! So will we ever get to the point where a battery will last for a week on a full charge? If this infographic from Lenovo is anything to go on, we still have a time to go before that happens.

Here is why battery life could be such an important feature in the future;

Most of us only fuel our cars approximately once per week. When can we expect to get the same mileage from our laptops? Imagine charging your laptop once on a Sunday, and having it last a 40-hour work week without ever needing more juice.
