PayPal Now Supports Prepaid Gift Cards

PayPal

PayPal has added support for prepaid gift cards through PayPal Checkout, thanks to a "patent-pending and innovative method" that the company claims took "months of research and investigations" to develop. Though prepaid gift cards are a highly lucrative industry-research firm First Data estimated that more than $43 billion worth of gift cards were purchased during the 2012 holiday season-they can be difficult to use on e-commerce sites because most don't have a billing address attached to them. In fact, 60% of people who received gift cards told First Data they preferred to use them at brick-and-mortar locations. By offering gift card support through PayPal Checkout, the company may encourage more shoppers to redeem their gift cards online. PayPal isn't doing this out of altruism, of course.

Twitter’s @MagicStats Favorites Twitter’s Best Tweets in Real Time

@MagicStats

Twitter continues to pull the string on personalization and recommendation with a new account called @magicstats. The account, whose description reads 'I favorite the best tweets I see in real-time' appears to be doing just that. Though the account is protected and its activity closed down, we've been tracking it for several weeks now and have gained a bit of insight into how it works. Several of my personal tweets and some TechCrunch tweets have been favorited by the account, which appears to be working on several metrics including velocity of activity (like favs and retweets from other accounts). We investigated the account and it's followed by many members of Twitter's search and relevance team, just like Twitter's other experiments @magicrecs and @eventparrot.

Breaking through the techno jargon: how to choose a laptop

Laptops

A laptop is a necessity for the modern world, but choosing the right one for you can turn into a nightmare. With so many different brands, models and features on offer, the choice can become overwhelming - particularly if you're just looking for something to browse Facebook and do a bit of online shopping.

A good bit of advice is to always go for a trusted brand such as Zoostorm, Toshiba or Asus. Not only are these manufacturers a good sign of quality, they are all usually reasonably priced too. Stick to your budget and don't get distracted by lots of extras that will bump up the price - unless you really need them.

If you just need a laptop for basic word processing, you won't need a great deal of memory. The standard 2GB of RAM and 250GM hard drive should be sufficient for your needs. This should also bring your total cost to under 500.

If you need something more powerful, perhaps to replace a desktop computer, then you will need to look for something with at least 4GB of RAM and about 500GB of space on the hard drive. This will give you plenty of space for storing documents, photos and videos. It's also important to bear in mind that the more powerful a laptop, then bulkier it is likely be. So if you need something that's easy to carry around and has good battery life, then you'll probably need a less powerful laptop.

A netbook is a great option when portability is key, as their small and light design make them ideal for travelling. This does usually limit their capabilities to basic internet surfing and word processing. Tablets are another good option for people on the go, as they often have similar specifications to a netbook and can be accessorised with a bluetooth keyboard.

Now for the smaller details. If your laptop will be used as a desktop replacement, then check it has enough USB ports for all your connections, such as your speakers and mouse. If you plan to Skype, check it has a webcam of suitable quality. Portable laptops will not usually come with a DVD drive, so you will need to preload your music and videos to enjoy them on the go.

Is This Samsung Galaxy S4 (Exclusive) ?

Samsung Galaxy S4

Now this is quite interesting, everyone is waiting for the release of Samsung Galaxy SIII and there is a rumor that Samsung is planning to go for Samsung Galaxy S IV (S4) as well. Though it seems to be quite unbelievable and unreliable. Recently I was in a tour with my friends and I met with a guy who is currently working in Samsung. We had a conversation about Samsung Galaxy SII and upcoming device SIII. I was totally amazed when he told that Samsung is also planning to launch Samsung Galaxy S4 in near future. Although he was not at all interested to provide any information about Galaxy SIII or S4, but when I doubted on him regarding Samsung Galaxy S4, he told that a team of his senior officers are working on the specs and model of Samsung Galaxy S4 and he also showed me few projected models for Samsung Galaxy S4, which he had in his laptop. One of the most considered model is below.

Samsung-Galaxy-S4

On promising that I will not disclose his name, he let me know that Samsung Galaxy S4 might have 3D display and 3D camera. The device will have only one physical button on the right hand side, which is a POWER BUTTON along with one sensor touch button for camera. Left side of the device has sensor touch buttons for volume up and volume down. Again there are four sensor touch buttons at the bottom of the screen.

After seeing the above image, it seems that front camera and proximity sensor has been shifted to right for better management. The screen size is still undecided. He did not provided any information about CPU, RAM, memory, etc. The knowledge he had about this device makes me feel that this rumor is quite promising. I have taken that person in my circle so that we can get more information about Samsung Galaxy S4. I will update this post if I will get some more info.

Although, the knowledgebase and projected model pics he had shown me in his laptop about Samsung Galaxy S4 seems quite promising but still we cant confirm that this is trustable at this stage.

The advantages of using Yahoo! Mail

Post image for The advantages of using Yahoo! Mail

What are the advantages of using Yahoo! Mail? If you receive a lot of email on a regular basis, and you need to open more than one email at once, the Yahoo! Mail user platform comes with a perfect feature for you. The ability to open up multiple emails simultaneously in different tabs separates Yahoo! Mail from some of its competitors.

With the vast options available on the internet for email accounts, most people do not put in much thought into which provider's services they choose. Many assume that all the major email service providers offer the same features, but in reality, they all have their own pros and cons that make them suitable to different groups of people. Yahoo! Mail has a number of features that makes it a highly desirable email service provider.

For those who have email accounts with multiple email service providers, Yahoo! Mail offers a unique feature whereby you can check all your POP accounts from your Yahoo! account. This option is a big time saver since you can receive and send all your emails from one place. You can add multiple Yahoo! Mail accounts to a single account, so you do not need to waste time every day logging out of one account and into the next.

Attaching large files to email messages is often a headache for many, but with Yahoo! Mail, your worries are likely to go away. You can attach up to 2GB in each mail, since Yahoo! Mail is equipped with a mechanism that shrinks email messages before sending them. To compliment the 2GB attachment limit, unlike many of its competitors, Yahoo! Mail does not have an account storage limit.

A Yahoo! Mail account allows you to access a number of Yahoo! products, including Yahoo Answers and Yahoo discussion groups. You can also integrate various apps including a calendar, Evite and Flickr photos. Yahoo! Mail has a number of features that allow you to organize your online life. You can create folders and set up rules and filters to direct mail to their designated folders automatically, making them easier to go through as well as look back on if needed. Emails from different accounts can be color coded differently.

The best thing about Yahoo! Mail is that it provides all of its services for free. If one wishes to further enhance their email experience, they can upgrade their account to a Yahoo! Mail Plus account for a minimal yearly fee. This upgrade allows users to access their Yahoo! Mail from any POP email clients. Those who purchase Yahoo! Mail Plus will also notice a less cluttered interface since this version is advertisement free.
