Annual hacker cup is on- Facebook started registration for the competition



Facebook has started registration for its Hacker Cup 2013 and this time the winning programmer will win $10,000 which is doubled than the last year winning prize. This Hacker Cup will first hold online and than in final stage it will hold in Facebook's Head quarter situated in the Menlo Part. Only 25 programmers will be able to make their way in finals. The competition will take place between 25 January to 16 February. The final competition between 25 programmers will take place in March and dates are 22 and 23.Hacker Cup competition is important for two reasons. One is Facebook wants to remain close to the hackers. Secondly, this competition will open avenue for innovation by identifying the top talented and smart hackers. They will then be able to route these talent in best engineering.



Facebook has announced that those participants who have taken part in last competition are automatically registered and they just require to check their names in updated list.



There will be no limits to the number of participants, but only condition is to sign up before 27th January. Some other limitations are that participants must be 18 plus years old and must be registered on Facebook. Moreover, participants cannot be from those places where hacker competition is prohibited by law like Quebec. For enrollment in competition, participants must provide details including real name, phone number, postal address, date of birth, and email ids.



In this competition, contestants will be provided by set of problems which they are required to solve. Output file and source code will be checked for working and judged for solutions in given time period. Only six minutes will be bestowed to come up with files and they can even give multiple answers.



Last year, the number of participants was 8000 from 150 countries and in finals 25 participants were from Germany, Ukraine, Germany, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Chine, US and Taiwan. The winner of them was Roman Andreev of Russia. Let's wait and see who will be the next Hacker's Cup champion.
