Hackathon Competition- The General Catalyst is aiming to bestow student early intro to the startup life nationwide

Organised hackathons have begun to grow across the globe and this is all thanks to the companies like Startup Weekend and AngelHack. In this regards, the underrepresented hackathons got the attention of General Catalyst, "The veteran venture capital firm" based in Palo Alto and Massachusetts. General Catalysts in partnering with Signalfire- "the hacker event specialist," has united to organise Hacker Olympics event and this has invited the biggest hackers so to make the world largest hackathon, in the history of university. The competition commenced from October and qualifiers were called from 25 top engineering schools of USA. The students are competing in coding challenges given by Y Combinator Alum Hackerrank.This month, qualifiers will be wrapping up in Princeton and five students with high scoring at each university will be selected for finals, going to held in San Francisco for three days. Students will be given all expenses paid trip designed to take place on January 11^th. Those selected students will have to code against the CTOs and the top engineers of Square, Stripe, Airbnb and 30 0thers startups.

The winning team will be accompanied to the VIP dinner with the Silicon Valley notables, at the end of the hackathon event. Moreover, at the final day of the event, entitled as "Hacker Demo Day", the 40 startups will offer students to join their teams and will offer them networking opportunities.

The commencement of University Hacker Olympics was with open challenge for each student all over the USA. The only requirement to participate in competition is to have .edu email id. The organisers of the event have explained how they got inspiration of such event. They said that never had such chance to proof their abilities at college level and thus they want to provide opportunity to the young students to meet and interact with the top engineers, entrepreneurs and investors of Silicon Valley, Google, Twitter and Facebook.

Last Sunday, University has announced a wild card challenge so that left over students can also become part of this coding chop event. The final qualifiers for the event have been selected on December 16^th and now they will be given invitations for finals.
