Nest's next product, which it is set to unveil soon, will be a smoke detector called Protect, according to sources. The new product from the innovative device company follows its successful launch of a new generation thermostat called Nest.
The smoke detector will be connected to the thermostat, part of an effort by Nest to create a series of home products that are aware in the home and adapt to the environment and its users and controlled by smartphones or tablets.
A Web site run by former Wall Street Journal reporter Jessica Lessin first wrote about the new product from the well-funded startup, although sources said it will not be attached to a subscription service as was reported on the site today.
