We really do love the idea of a universal remote, but just when you think you find one that might be up to snuff with your standards, something better comes along. That's just the nature of technology really, but we can't help but try and keep up with current trends. While the idea of a universal remote is quite swell, it all comes down to whether or not it can control the things you actually care about. If you are addicted to social media, gaming, and watching TV through online sources, then you'll want something that can accommodate.
While this remote we saw before was rather impressive with its touchscreen and minimal design with the bare minimum of buttons, it doesn't quite lend itself much to gaming. The MadCatz S.U.R.F.r is a gaming controller and multimedia remote that will connect to TVs that run Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, M.O.J.O. micro console, and basically anything Android-powered.
This will give you a full QWERTY keyboard, two analog sticks, a D-pad, ABXY buttons, bumpers, and an ergonomic grip. This will let you search and type with ease, or click with precision through the mouse mode cursor. This only recently debuted at the MobileFocus Global 2015 in Barcelona, but can be pre-ordered now for $79.99. This will ship in May of this year, and comes in black, red, or white.
